Pas*sion (noun): an intense desire or enthusiasm for something.

There is one thing my students all have in common: passion. How that passion is nurtured varies from one flutist to the next. Many of my students actively participate in competitions, while others seek out extracurricular performance groups. Some compete with themselves through yearly performance evaluations, or strive weekly for personal improvement in the privacy of their own practice rooms. I recognize this passion, this desire to make beautiful music with the flute, in all its forms. It is the core of my teaching philosophy.
